Mechanical Drawing
This is one of my most favourite pieces of artworks I have made. The background is a floral wallpaper pattern containing mainly thick vines that attach to eachother throughout the artwork. There are little forms of flowers and big monoprint looking flowers too. In the middle of the artwork there is a horse which I drew last semester for Visual Arts, inside the horse is a technical drawing of some kind of machine, it has exploded views of where bolts are supposed to fit into the machine and many small figures of numbers. I like the way i produced this artwork because it almost contradicts nature with man-made equipment, as well as abuse towards animals. In a way this relates to my theme ‘ikebana’ because ikebana uses man-made and organic matter to be brought together in harmony through flower arrangement.

Peacock and Dragon
1878
woven woollen fabric designed by William Morris
William Morris, born 24 March 1834 to 3rd October 1896 was an English architect, furniture and textile designer, artist and writer. His interest for the medievel times is shown through this self-designed fabrics. The name of the fabric ‘Peacock and Dragon’ is an obvious giveaway for what the design is. The yellow material in the fabric displays the images of the dragon and the patterns related to it, while the brown material displays the images of the peacock and the patterns also related to it. This relates to my artwork because of the patterns displayed throughout the fabric, and how the fabric shows extremely detailed places while some places are quite simple.
Diana Cooper
Emerger
2005-2006
paper, felt, vinyl, acrylic, ink foamcore and map pins.
This is a sketch coming to life. I like the way this has been presented, although it’s stuck to the wall and floor, it comes out at you as a 3 dimensional fragmented grid. The red Cooper used stands out well from the wall while the grey/black frame distinguishes the body of the pieces. I think it relates to my work because if the background of the floral wallpaper pattern was coloured, this would bring out the horse making it look like it’s coming out of the picture, although this would only be an illusion.
Information Graphics
I liked this workshop the least because I’m not hugely interested on making art using a computer graphic software. This was originally a picture of a Calla Lily but I drew over the background and put in some nice patterns and colour, then erased parts of the images to see what kinda of effect it would show. After deleting the background this is what it ended up looking like. I think it looks ok, but is definitely not one of my best works.

Screenprint on white paper
This is one of a series of artworks Andy Warhol has made, the series all have different coloured flowers and grass. This artwork has more of a detailed background with simple coloured flowers whereas mine is the opposite. The background is plain white. The detail goes into the images i have created.
Vinvent Van Gogh
Flowers
Oil on canvas
I like this painting because it displays a branch is a vase. This makes the image quite bland but the way it has been painted brings out the complexity of the artwork. My artwork shows simple images with detailed fillings which makes it look more appealing.
Materiality
I enjoyed this workshop the most, because I was able to use clay as my material. This tile is seperated into sections each showing different textures and patterns, which was the main idea. I chose to leave this tile unpainted because it shows the texture of the clay and the different shades it produced when being fired up. I took this picture of the tile on top of my duvet cover because the bubbles and colours of the cover brought out the colour and textures of the tile, and I think it looks nicely presented.

Brass relief
I like this artwork because it looks similar to mine, only it’s confined to one jagged shape. This brass piece is divded into sections using the same texture whereas mine is divded into different textures and shapes. Both the artworks consist of one colour showing different shades.

Chandelier of Rock Crystals
2001
I included this artwork in y blog because it’s a different way of displaying a chandelier. I like how the wire holds the pieces of rocks in a line formation. The orange light reflects off the stones in a neat way, this gives the chandelier more appeal.
